Change 1000+ of WordPress Featured Images in 5 Minutes! › Forums › Questions and Answers › plugin not working and tried several options

On this website
I have +1000 posts without featured images. I’ve tried the PRO plugin with several options and none of them worked.
Any idea why?
Here are just a few examples of old posts without featured images
Thanks in advance

Did you upload the old images into the library again some time earlier?
If you want I would take a look into the backend to find out the reason. In that case please mail me the login credentials to email@example.com.October 17, 2017 at 3:41 pm #10853
No, I didn’t upload the old images again.
I’ve done the following:
1) deleted the whole database of featured images with your plugin
2) create new featured images (selecting the option of getting the first image of the post) but doing it month by month
And in this case, though it doesn´t get 100% of the posts, it gets the majority.
Does it make any sense?
[Sorry that I can’t grant you access to the backend for security reasons]October 17, 2017 at 4:36 pm #10854
It can make sense. I used “HP DATA PROTECTOR NOTEBOOK EXTENSION 6.1, SEGURIDAD PARA DATOS CONFIDENCIALES EN PORTÁTILES” as an example of a post without any featured image.
In the IMG HTML code of the first image there is a reference to an image ID 4087. But there is nothing to find with that ID.
At the next step the plugin tries to get an image ID by the image path. That path references to an available image. But it seems not to be there in the database. So again an image ID can not be found.
So the plugin can not find any ID for that first image and returns “no image”.
That is the background of my further question for changes of the database in the past.
How many posts are without any featured image now?

That problem must be common for many post. I have hundreds of them that the plugin can’t put any featured image.
Is there a way to delete that ID for those posts without a featured image and without deleting the original images?

Yes, the fastest way is by making a dump of the db, edit it and import it back into the db.October 17, 2017 at 9:22 pm #10877
But that would not solve the problem. The db entries of the missing images in the library must be created. I am pondering about it…October 19, 2017 at 9:42 am #10891
I got two thoughts:
October 19, 2017 at 9:45 am #10893
- Did you change from http to https in the past and the paths in the db are not adapted?
- Or: a script scanning the “uploads” directory and adding missing db entries for the existing files would help.
Thanks for the help, I’ll check both options
