With the new version of “Quick Featured Images Pro” (QFIP) you can use the plugin “Featured Image by URL” for autoatic default featured images. You can also use it to bulk set external featured images. And the image oolumn shows the assigned external images per post.
These features are also avaible with the plugin “Featured Image From URL” (if it is installed and activated).
Just upgrade QFIP to version 9.0.0. in the WordPress admin area. If you’d like the new features I will be glad about your review.
I will ponder about it and will take a look at that plugin.

The license for the website you pointed to is active for the http connection. But that server uses https connections. So there are two different URLs, and the update routine refuses to update. Please try to activate the license via a https connection.
I edited the URLs in your post for safety reasons.
Yes, the upgrade was rolled out completely on May 16, 2019.
Yes, the WordPress app has many limitations. Please use the desktop version instead.
Thank you for the screenshots. I see that the option “Use first attached image” is activated. You can see attached images in the backend on page “Media” > “Library” in list mode, column “Uploaded to”. If there is a title of a post, the respective image is attached to that post. If there is no attachment, you see the entry “(Unattached)” and a link to attach any image.
Is that what you have intended? Or did you want the “first post image” as the future featured image?

Did you specify any rules in “Default Images”? If yes, which?May 20, 2019 at 12:51 pm in reply to: cURL error 28: Connection timed out after 10001 milliseconds #16994
That means the reason is in the connection between your site and this online shop. Or the shop was down for a short time, e.g. for maintainance.
Please try the activation again later. You can use the plugin without any activation except the upgrade function.
I found the bug in the plugin. An upgrade will be published soon. With the new version your first content image will be found.
That is the correct code. It is flawless so I have to try some researches on your server. In your case of a localhost I have no access to your server. Either we do a joint session with TeamViewer so that I can access the local site on your computer, or I offer you the refund of your purchase amount.
Ok, I am doing some researches about that. I will reply tomorrow.
You wrote that you use a localhost. If the site is on a public server I will take a close look to the HTML code. In your case I must guess.
Please provide me an example of the HTML code of one of the images.
Did you try the option for images from external servers?
